Passport Business Solutions™ - Thin Client Version

During Q1 2005, PSI will release Passport Business Solutions™ Thin Client.

Passport Software, Inc., utilizes Acucorp's Thin Client technology, which consists of three components. A small program on the Windows client—called the ACUCOBOL-GT Thin Client—communicates with the application running on the server and handles the display and input requirements of the user interface. The second piece, the AcuConnect remote COBOL listener service, runs on the server. The listener waits for requests from the ACUCOBOL-GT Thin Client to launch the third component, a standard ACUCOBOL-GT runtime on the server. When a request is received from a client, the AcuConnect listener starts a new copy of the runtime on the server, connects that runtime with the client process i.e. the remote workstation, and removes itself from the communication stream to wait for requests from other thin client processes. Once initiated, the runtime on the server executes the COBOL application, and sends screen commands back to the client, greatly reducing network traffic.
