Version 10.5 Updates and Service Packs: Available for Windows/Unix/Linux

IMPORTANT NOTES:

* You should not install these updates if you have any custom programming or custom modules installed that relate to any of the following modules. Please consult with your customization dealer before installing these updates.

* Unzip the zip files into your top level folder where the software is installed, and use the "Folders" option so that fixes are unzipped into their proper sub directories.

For the update to V10.5.3 to fix SPR690 – “problem with printing W2’s for employees with multiple states or cities” go to the bottom of this page.

SCO Unix 10.5.1 Installer

The installer program for 10.5.1 "1051upgr.sco" shipped on the Unix/Linux 10.5.1 update CD does not install the new "lookup" components required for 10.5.1. This is a serious flaw in the programs but can be easily corrected in two ways.

1. Download the SCO Installer (executable binary) without this problem. Use this program to install all your 10.5.1 SCO upgrades. Do not use the the "1051upgr.sco" shipped on the CD. Remember to "chmod +x" the binary, if necessary, or just use the alternative download- 'tar' archive of 1051upgr.sco and extract the binary from the tar archive which will have the proper permission assignments.

2. If you use the installer "1051upgr.sco" shipped on the CD then after the installation process completes, do the following:

  • mount the 10.5.1 RW32 Upgrade CD
  • change to your RW32 top level directory
  • at the command prompt type: tar xvf /mnt/cdrom/UNIX/SCO50X/PTKIT.TAR
  • unmount the CD

This command above will extract the "lookup" programs that are skipped over by the installer shipped on the CD.

The LINUX Installer programs do not have this flaw.

RW32™ Version 10.5.2 Service Pack

Passport has created a 10.5.2 service pack that incorporates all of the critical patches and fixes for 10.5.1 that were previously distributed on this site plus numerous other less critical bug fixes that were found and cured up through mid-March. For a list of all the fixes contained in the service pack, see below to download a PDF copy of the 10.5.2 Improvements List.

There was one late breaking fix that could not be included in the 10.5.2 service pack. This is fix SPR456/463/810, relating to the production of Quarterly Magnetic Media, and it can be found further down on this page.

The 10.5.2 service pack can only be installed if you have already installed the 10.5.1 update.

If you have never received the 10.5.1 update, please contact your Account Manager.

WARNING: You should not install this service pack if you have any custom programming or custom modules installed that relate to any of the following modules: AP, AR, IC, PO, PR, SY, PTB. Please consult with your customization dealer before installing the service pack.

  1. Download the self-installing RW32 10.5.2 Service Pack for Windows
  2. PDF document that describes the improvements in this Service Pack
  3. Right-click to download a Unix/Linux archive that contains module-by-module 'tar' archives of the 10.5.2 Service Pack object code. Once downloaded, un-archive this 'tar' into an empty directory on your Unix/Linux box and consult the "readme" file for installation instruction

IMPORTANT: The fixes below were released after the 10.5.2 service pack.  Please install the 10.5.2 service pack, then install the remaining fixes that are listed below.  Thank you.

SPR 456/463/810-Windows/Unix/Linux

Passport Software, Inc., has released three corrections to the current Payroll programs related to the production of Quarterly Magnetic Media in RW32™ Version 10.5.1 and 10.4.2. Identified as SPR456, SPR463 and 810, these programs are corrected with a downloadable patch. They may be applied against either the 10.5.1 release or the 10.4.2 release.

They may also be applied on top of the 10.5.2 service pack, available soon as a web-based download or shipped upon special request Passport Business Solutions Version 11 release includes these updates.

SPR456 Description - The PR Quarterly Mag Media name fields are incorrectly formatted: The last name is missing, and the first name is repeated.

SPR463 and 810 Description: Under certain specific conditions, typically involving the use of a date field in the set up fields of the Quarterly Mag Media file, a range error would result during the creation of the Mag Media.

A message similar to following would appear:

Duplicated the reference modifier range error; start =1, length =-3
COBOL error at 001043 in PROBJ\QTRMAG
Called from 00045C in PROBJ\LCKMAG
Called from 0003C9 in RWC
Called from 0001A7 in ACUSTART.ACU

Alternatively, the program may give a 'non-numeric type' error and would proceed. Both errors resulted from incorrect coding of the MAGTBL.pws copy library for date items which is utilized in nine programs.

Please download the patch file and make sure the programs are all placed in the PROBJ directory.

  1. Download the Windows Patch zip file
  2. Right-click to download the Unix/Linux 'tar' archive (un-archive from the "top-level" RW32 directory)

Windows/Unix/Linux - SPR432/458/501 (Updated 9/30/2004)

Passport Software, Inc., has identified a problem in the current 10.5.1 update Accounts Payable module. Several printing issues relating to the display of fully paid open items and an error in the logic of the program cause the Aging Report system to error out.

2/26/04 - We recently discovered an additional problem with the aging that specifically affects those users whose Vendor History file has been purged to a more recent date than their Open Item file. In this case items in the Open Item file that have been paid but whose VH entries have been purged would show on the aging. The quick solution to this problem is to purge the Open Item file so there are not O/I entries that are not matched by Vendor History entries. We have also updated the patches below so that even if the above situation does hold the program will not show these paid O/I entries.

9/30/04 - SPR501 fixes a problem where under certain circumstances, open items where being left off of the report.

Replace the programs "OPNAPA.acu", "OPNSCN.acu" and "OPNRPT.acu" with the ones in either of these downloads:

Windows zip file or Unix/Linux 'tar' archive

Unzip or un-tar these files directly into the APOBJ folder, replacing the programs that reside there.

Once you have installed the program please also make sure to re-enter the selection parameters for the aging as the number of selection fields may have changed.

Patch for V10.5.3 – SPR690 – printing W-2’s for employees in multiple jurisdictions

This problem affects only those people using either the multi-city or multi-state options of the Payroll package. The error caused the W-2 print program to loop when an employee was involved with three or more jurisdictions.   I.E. was reporting for more than three cities and/or states. Paper W-2's for single jurisdictions and all magnetic media are unaffected - this is true for running the Federal and State portions either separately or combined.
