Passport Business Solutions Upgrade Options - Windows

There are several options for upgrading to Passport Business Solutions.  You must be current on the Passport Update Program (PUP) to upgrade to the latest version. The following information explains the various options.  Most of this document applies to installing PBS Version 11.6.

RW32™ Version 10.x and PBS 11.x updates to Version 11.6

Passport Software offers a new installation, upgrade and update to PBS Version 11.6.

Version 11.5 can be updated directly to Version 11.6.  The update is a complete replacement of all the working programs. 

To update from Version 11.2 or Version 11.3 to Version 11.5 you must first update to Version 11.4.  Data files are converted for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll during the 11.4 installation. You may then update to 11.5 and then to 11.6 You must have a PBS Version 11.6 CD ROM for this installation.

RW32 10.5.x, PBS 11.0.x or PBS 11.1.x must first be updated to PBS 11.2 before going to Version 11.4 to Version 11.5 and then to Version 11.6.  The Version 11.2 Windows update is on the PBS Version 11.6 CD ROM.

To upgrade from Version 10.2.x, 10.3.x or 10.4.x or earlier you must request a Version 11.6 CD ROM. On this CD there is an upgrade to Version 10.5.2 that must be applied before you can install PBS Version 11.2. To upgrade from a version before 10.2, contact Passport Support for upgrade instructions.

Classic version upgrades to PBS 11.6

With the instructions and installation on this CD, Classic Versions of 8.x or 9.x can be upgraded to PBS Version 11.6.  RW2000™ or RW32™ 6.8 can be upgraded to Version 11.4, then to 11.5 and finally to 11.6.

Upgrade and Update Options Spreadsheet to PBS 11.6

The following are the available options for upgrading to Passport Business Solutions Version 11.6.  In all cases the Version number refers specifically to the System Manager.  To view your current System Manager Version number, launch Classic, RW32™ or PBS and select <F1> at the User ID field.

Remember: When applying upgrades, if a customization or third-party application has been applied to your system, you need to make provisions for upgrading this as well.

PBS Version 11.6

1.  You will need a Version 11.6 CD ROM. Upgrade to RW32

     Version 10.5.2 by following the instructions in the v10-5-2pup.pdf

     document in the svcpacks directory found on the 11.5 CD ROM.
2.  Upgrade to PBS Version 11.2 by following the instructions

     in the v11-2PUP.pdf document in the svcpacks directory on the

     PBS 11.6 CD ROM.

3.  Upgrade to PBS Version 11.4 by following the instructions in the   

     v11-4PUP.pdf document in the svcpacks directory on the 11.6

     CD ROM.

4.  Upgrade to PBS Version 11.5 by following the instructions in the   

     v11-5PUP.pdf document in the svcpacks directory on the 11.6

      CD ROM.

5.  Upgrade to PBS Version 11.6 by following the instructions on    

     this web site page.

RW32 Version 10.5, 10.5.1 or 10.5.2 Windows (System Manager)

PBS Version 11.6

1.  You will need a Version 11.6 CD ROM. Upgrade to PBS Version

     11.2 by following the instructions in the v11-2PUP.pdf document

      in the svcpacks directory on the 11.6 CD ROM.

2.  Upgrade to PBS Version 11.4 by following the instructions in the   

     v11-4PUP.pdf document in the svcpacks directory on the 11.6

     CD ROM.

3.  Upgrade to PBS Version 11.5 by following the instructions in the   

     v11-5PUP.pdf document in the svcpacks directory on the 11.6

     CD ROM.

4.  Upgrade to PBS Version 11.6 by following the instructions on

     this web site page.

PBS Version 11.0.0, 11.0.A, 11.0.B or 11.0.C Windows (System Manager)

PBS Version 11.6

1.  You will need a Version 11.6 CD ROM. Upgrade to PBS Version

     11.2 by following the instructions in the v11-2PUP.pdf document

      in the svcpacks directory on the 11.6 CD ROM.

2.  Upgrade to PBS Version 11.4 by following the instructions in the   

     v11-4PUP.pdf document in the svcpacks directory on the 11.6

     CD ROM.

3.  Upgrade to PBS Version 11.5 by following the instructions in the   

     v11-5PUP.pdf document in the svcpacks directory on the 11.6

     CD ROM.

4.  Upgrade to PBS Version 11.6 by following the instructions on this   

     web site page.

PBS Version 11.1 or 11.1.1 Windows (System Manager)

PBS Version 11.6

1.  You will need a Version 11.6 CD ROM. Upgrade to PBS Version

     11.2 by following the instructions in the v11-2PUP.pdf document

      in the svcpacks directory on the 11.6 CD ROM.

2.  Upgrade to PBS Version 11.4 by following the instructions in the   

     v11-4PUP.pdf document in the svcpacks directory on the 11.6

     CD ROM.

3.  Upgrade to PBS Version 11.5 by following the instructions in the   

     v11-5PUP.pdf document in the svcpacks directory on the 11.6

     CD ROM.

4.  Upgrade to PBS Version 11.6 by following the instructions on this   

     web site page.

PBS Version 11.2.x or Version 11.3.x (System Manager)

PBS Version 11.6

1.  You will need a Version 11.6 CD ROM. Upgrade to PBS Version

     11.4 by following the instructions in the v11-4PUP.pdf document

      in the svcpacks directory on the 11.6 CD ROM.

2.  Upgrade to PBS Version 11.5 by following the instructions in the   

     v11-5PUP.pdf document in the svcpacks directory on the 11.6

     CD ROM.

3.  Upgrade to PBS Version 11.6 by following the instructions on this   

     web site page.

PBS Version 11.4.x (System Manager)

PBS Version 11.6

1.  You will need a Version 11.6 CD ROM. Upgrade to PBS Version

     11.5 by following the instructions in the v11-5PUP.pdf document

      in the svcpacks directory on the 11.6 CD ROM.

2.  Upgrade to PBS Version 11.6 by following the instructions on this   

     web site page.
PBS Version 11.5.x (System Manager) PBS Version 11.6

Upgrade to PBS Version 11.6 by following the instructions on this   

     web site page.

Classic Version 8 or 9

PBS Version 11.6

Upgrade to PBS Version 11.6 by following the upgrade instructions in the up8to11.pdf or up9to11.pdf instructions. Also follow the admin_pbs.pdf document.

RW2000 or RW32 Version 6.8

PBS Version 11.6

1.  You will need a Version 11.6 CD ROM. Upgrade to PBS Version

     11.4 by following the instructions in the up67to11.pdf or

     up68to11.pdf as found in the psiupg directory on the 11.6 CD

     ROM.

     Also follow the admin_pbs.pdf document in the psidocs

     directory.

2.  Upgrade to PBS Version 11.5 by following the instructions in the   

     v11-5PUP.pdf document in the svcpacks directory.

3.  Upgrade to PBS Version 11.6 by following the instructions on this   

     web site page.

Classic Versions 5.x, 4.x or earlier.

PBS Version 11.6

You must get the data into the Version 6.5/6.6 format (If you have Version 6.5 there are utilities built in to help you).

Once the data is in the 6.5/6.6 file format, contact PBS support for additional instructions on how to upgrade to 11.4. Once the data is in PBS 11.4 you may install and upgrade to PBS 11.5 and then to 11.6.

Classic Version 6.5

PBS Version 11.6

The sequence of the upgrade would be to first upgrade to PBS 11.4, then to PBS 11.5. You will need a PBS 11.6 CD ROM for this. Then upgrade to 11.6 following the instructions on this web site page. There are utilities as part of the PBS installation for upgrading the data files to 11.4. Contact PBS support for additional instructions.
