Passport Update Program Version 11.6 Windows Installation

The following section provides the installation instructions for applying the PBS Version 11.6 update to the Financial and Distribution modules.

Windows Server Installation

If your existing PBS system is on a Win2000 or Win 2003 server, we recommend that you install PBS while working on the Server. You will find that the data conversion will take much less time.

For network installations, we recommend that you be logged in as administrator.

Please make sure all users are out and stay out of PBS during the installation.

You will need to know the path of your current installation. If you are running the install from a client, you must have a drive letter assigned to the location where you are installing the update.

If you have any Manufacturing module installed on your system, you must install the 11.6 update for Manufacturing following the install of the Financial and Distribution modules. To access the Manufacturing modules install go here.

Installation Steps

(Note: read this page in its entirety before clicking).

[Download] the 11-6_win_inst.zip This file is 84967046 bytes in size. Windows install ZIP archive and then extract the installation into a temporary directory. Navigate to the directory using Windows Explore and start the installation by selecting:

Setup.exe

After you click on the button the install program will have the following questions and options.

Do you want to Install PBS Version 11.6 software?

Yes	Starts the installation of PBS
No	Cancels the installation

Locate RW.LIC License File

This is where you specify the location of the license file. The license will be in the top-level directory where your current PBS Version 11.5 is installed.

Browse	To find the location where the PBS is installed, click on this button. The Choose Folder window will display where you can navigate to the location. Select a different drive letter if necessary.
Back	Selecting this button will tell you that the license was not found. Instead of selecting Back, select Cancel to quit the install or Browse to find the license.
Next	Once the location of PBS license is found, then click on this button.
Cancel	Cancels the installation

Ready to Extract License Information

When you see this message, the install program found the license in the directory you specified.

OK	Click on OK to continue and the program will extract the license information.

License display information

The license data will display in the window. Unless you have a new license or have multiple licenses on your system it should not be necessary to review the license information.

Next	If the license is correct, click on this button.
Cancel	If the license does not appear to be correct, cancel the installation and contact your PBS supplier.

Select PBS Installation Directory

Here you specify where PBS is to be installed. The directory should be the same as where the system is now installed. Use the default location if appropriate.

Browse	To find the location where PBS Version 11.5.x is installed, click on this button. The Choose Folder window will display where you can navigate to the location. If necessary, select a different directory.
Back	Do not use this button. If needed, select Cancel and start over.
Next	Once the location of where you want Version 11.6 installed is located, click on this button.
Cancel	Cancels the installation

Software License Agreement

This displays the software license agreement. Please read the agreement.

Yes	Clicking on this will indicate that you agree with the software license agreement and will display the next window.
No	Clicking on this button will cancel the installation.

Directory information (Warning)

This indicates that you are installing PBS Version 11.6 in a directory that is not empty. This is true if you are updating directly over Version 11.5.

Next	Takes you to the Select Components window.
Cancel	This cancels the installation.

Select Components

You should not make any changes. The installation program will determine what gets installed. Click on the next button.

Change	This allows you to de-select or re-select any individual components of the PBS module. We advise that you do not make any changes.
Back	Takes you back to the Software License Agreement screen.
Next	Takes you to the next step of the installation.
Cancel	Cancels the installation

Start Copying PBS V11.6 Files (License display information)

Verification of the license information occurs at this point. You should click on the next button to begin copying PBS files and programs to the drive.

Back

Takes you back to the select components window.

Starts the copy of PBS files and programs to the selected drive.

You will then see an indicator that displays the name of each file and program being installed. Wait for the installation program to finish.

Cancel

Cancels the installation.

Ready for Version 11.6 post-installation processing. This may take some time. Please wait...

Post-installation processing is needed for building menus and paths. A percentage of completion will display. It may remain at 90% for more than a minute. This is normal.

OK	Click on OK to continue.

PBS V11.6 menu update completed (ISUPUP)

ISUPUP is the program that creates the menu and updates the path files on an update installation.

OK	Click on OK to continue.

Serial number information

Next, the program will integrate the serial numbers into key PBS programs enabling the installation to function properly.

Next	Click on Next to continue.
Cancel	Unless you detected some problem, you should not cancel on this step.

Licensed modules have been serialized

Continue with the installation.

OK	Click on OK to continue

Ready to run the file conversion and update programs

Continue with the installation.

OK	Click on OK to continue

If you have Accounts Payable a DOS window (black with white letters) may display that indicates the company number, the file being converted and a counter that increments while processing a thousand records at a time. There are two steps to each file and the display indicates this. First a temporary work file is created from the old data file format and then the data is restored in the new data file format. Please be patient and let the computer finish this step.

If you have a very fast system and/or small data files, then the conversion display window may only pop on the screen momentarily. If you have less than 1000 records it will not display at all.

PBS 11.6 File Conversion & Update Completed

This step is only necessary for an update installation, but the program will check files and convert them as needed.

OK	Click on OK to continue

Setup complete

The installation is finished.

Finish

Click on Finish to terminate the install program.

You are now ready for the post-installation configuration issues.

Post-installation Issues

1. If you have not already done so, download any PBS patches for 11.6 from the PSI Web site as needed. The web site link is here.

2. If you have custom software or a third party application that integrates directly to PBS, it is now time to install those programs and files.

3. Review the Post-installation configuration information found here.

4. If you are licensed for any Manufacturing module, you must update to 11.6 as well. Go here for the Manufacturing install.
