Passport Update Program Version 11.5.4 Year-End Installation

The following section provides the installation information for applying the PBS Version 11.5.3 Payroll and 11.5.4 System Manager year-end update over PBS 11.5.x.

General pre-installation information

To install Version 11.5.4 Year-End update the System Manager Version must be at 11.5.x. To verify your version press the <F1> key at the PBS User ID login screen and view the System Manager version. If you are on a version prior to 11.5, refer to the upgrade_options for Windows or the upgrade options for UNIX/Linux page. If you are installing a full version 11.5, then you need a PBS 11.5 CD ROM.

Specific PBS payroll programs are replaced with the Version 11.5 year-end update installation.  No critical data files are over-written.

This install is accumulative and includes the previous downloadable updates of 11.5.2 for Payroll and 11.5.3 for System Manager.

If you have not already done so, install the Version 11.5 updates on this page first (you may exclude the System Manager and Payroll), then come come back to this page to install the 2007 year-end update.

Make sure you have a restorable current backup of PBS before you do this installation.

A restorable backup of your data is highly recommended before you install PBS 11.5.  A backup can be as simple as selecting to copy PBS and paste to another directory. You are not required to backup the data to another media or hard drive but it is recommended.

*** Windows COBOL Configuration Files are Over-written – Back them up if needed ***

In order to take advantage of new features, we are over-writing the Windows configuration files. The primary file is cblconfi, but the install will also over-write the cblconfi.pbsb, cblconfi.in, cblconfi.fu and cblconfi.pth files.

If you have modified the flags or settings in any of these files and you wish to retain these modifications, you should copy these files to another location or make a note of the file changes prior to installing the PBS 11.6 update. Following the install update the new configuration file.

Standard Data Conversion and Creation of new Data Files

No data conversion occurs during the installation of this update.

Pre-installation path issues when using non-standard paths

There is no change to the paths for files or programs for the 11.5 year-end installation.

The following are important notes if your PBS system has been customized:

§        IMPORTANT: Some of the Version 11.5 Payroll programs have been re-compiled.  If you have any customized programs or a third party integrated application, they may need to be merged with changed programs and re-compiled with the changed copybooks enabling the programs to work properly in PBS Version 11.5 year-end. Check with your programmer for an additional explanation.
