About Our Software

A lot of things are the same. It's so similar- that's why we went with Passport Business Solutions ™ . We were comfortable with the program and the program worked for us, so why go through learning something else…pretty simple to just keep using.

 

One thing was we were used to using the F10 key. This got changed and wasn't in the new tree menu, but now we just open a second screen, which works great. If I'm posting and I want to go check something, I can just go look – works even better than toggling back and forth.

Engineering Management Systems had been running RealWorld since Version 6. We maintain a very large inventory and also have a second, remote location. We were running a Novell server and using a VPN - everything was running on the workstations. RealWorld will run fine on these new machines, but just barely. We would run a long report and it would always lock up. We found a work-around but technology is moving forward. We upgraded to Passport Business Solutions and put everything on a Windows Server 2003, with Windows Terminal Services to minimize processing time.

 

Passport Business Solutions has sped up our productivity by leaps and bounds! I wish we had done it sooner. It was an easy conversion – very smooth. I like that I can use a mouse if I want to, I can get around the system quickly, and the learning curve is almost zero. We had Unix but we needed to switch to Windows. I just thought everything would get scrambled during the transition so I printed out every report I could think of. It was the middle of the afternoon when we started. I was back on the system by midday the next day. I'm totally amazed. The new system is wonderful! We had a big question and answer session – to understand what we needed. Gordon Crumal [Pritchard, Crumal. & Schaaf, Inc. in Fresno, CA] quizzed us and we quizzed him. That's what made this go so smoothly - Gordon provided that – he's an expert. Gordon said, ‘This is what I'm going to do and this is what you need to do.' In one day, everything was done.
